PIPE-FLO SHIPS WITH DATA FOR OVER 550 PROCESS CHEMICALS AND INDUSTRIAL FLUIDS

July 10, 2001 Lacey, WA Engineered Software, a worldwide leader of fluid flow analysis software, today announced the release of the MKS Fluids Compilation, a software program containing physical property values for over 550 process chemicals and industrial fluids.

The Fluids Compilation provides critically evaluated physical property values for hundreds of gases and liquids. Each fluid file contains parameterized equations that compute values for density, viscosity, vapor pressure, and heat capacity over wide ranges of temperatures and pressures.

The Fluids Compilation is shipped with Engineered Software’s PIPE-FLO program to significantly enhance the programs fluid data capabilities. The Fluids Compilation will benefit users in the chemical and industrial process industries who design, analyze and troubleshoot fluid piping systems.

The Fluids Compilation module is supplied by Molecular Knowledge Systems (MKS), a leader in physical property estimation and molecular design software. Engineered Software has entered into a strategic alliance with MKS to provide FLO-SERIES users with the Fluids Compilation and additional fluid property data.

"Having accurate fluid property data is vital when performing any fluid calculation," said Ray Hardee, President of Engineered Software. "For example, when selecting a pump if the process fluids vapor pressure, and viscosity are not accurately known, the selected pump may not be able to meet the system requirements. With over 550 fluids shipped with PIPE-FLO, accurate fluid property data is now only a mouse click away. "

"The Fluids Compilation represents the beginning of a long term effort by MKS to provide quality physical property values for many of the common industrial chemicals not found in current databases," said Kevin Joback, PhD, Molecular Knowledge Systems, Inc. "Fuels, lubricants, heat transfer fluids, and salt solutions have long been widely processed but their physical property values are still difficult to find. Feedback from ESI's customers in the food, petroleum, and chemical industries indicated a strong need for such a compilation."
